About the Studio

My multi function studio is located in the basement of my 1910 home.  It’s my refuge and a wonderful place to MAKE.  I make fanciful, functional eclectic pottery pieces, handcrafted soaps, candles, fine photography, triangle loom woven scarves, as well as other crafts as the spirit moves me. You’ll see below my Maker Studio Brands.  Each section will tell you a little more about each method with a link to it’s own shopping page, where you can purchase what’s currently abailable.  Thanks for looking.  Thanks always for shopping small.  I appreciate you!

At Market!

Find me at the Smoky Mountain Farmers & Artisans Market on Fridays, May – October. 117 Island Street Bryson City, NC – here’s a little sneak peek video (Click anywhere on the picture above)

Locust Hollow Soap

Locust Hollow is the exclusive brand for my small batch hand crafted soap.  Made with traditional  cold process techniques  and high quality pure  ingredients.

The soap is meticulously crafted with all natural and in most cases organic oils and butters.

You’ll love the silkiness of the lather, how it is lightly scented with phthalate free fragrance oils, rinses clean and leaves your skin feeling soft without drying it out, or leaving it oily.

Smoky Mountain Arts

I learned how to knit and crochet as a young girl and recently learned how to weave on the Smoky Mountain Tri-Loom.  Other fiber arts you may see here are my unique Bird Nesting Baskets, as well as (maybe) some t-shirt Crochet.

Artography

As a CPA, Certified Professional Photographer with the Professional Potographers of America from 2004 to 2014 I had a photography studio in Michigan known as Starbird Photography.  My love of photography began in high school journalism class and continues today.  Years ago I specialized in portraiture and always took other pictures for my own enjoyment.  Now they are to be shared.  Current pieces are available locally at Mountain Perks in Bryson City.

Cave Dweller Pottery

Funny story here.  It was a beautiful day and I was in the studio most of it.  At the end of the day when Rick, my husband, commented about the gorgeous weather , I replied “I wouldn’t know, I was in the basement all day.” He called me a “cave dweller” and it stuck!
