Locust Hollow Soaps

by The Maker Studio

Locust Hollow is the exclusive brand for my small batch hand crafted soap.  Made with traditional  cold process techniques  and high quality pure  ingredients.

Each batch yields only 16 bars and takes 6 weeks for a full cure before they are ready for market.   The soap is meticulously crafted with all natural and in most cases organic oils and butters.  Each batch has at 3 to 6 different oils and butters depending on the recipe.

You’ll love the silkiness of the lather, how it is lightly scented with phthalate free fragrance oils, rinses clean and leaves your skin feeling soft without drying it out, or leaving it oily.

Olive Oil

Hyper Moisturizing. Olive oil cleans your skin without stripping away the natural oils — so you don’t end up dry and flaky after it’s use.  may prevent premature aging*

Coconut Oil

is highly cleansing and conditioning to the skin and produces a wonderfully, creamy lather. It is rich in fatty acids which help to remove blemish-causing dirt, bacteria and dead skin*, and it does so gently without irritating the skin. The soap is great for removing makeup* and even for cleansing hair without the use of harsh chemicals. Its natural deodorizing properties can also help to eliminate body odor*.

Avocado Oil

Prized for its superior moisturizing properties. This oil is rich in vitamins A, B, D and E as well as lecithin, potassium, protein, beta carotene and amino acids.

Shea Butter

boosts skin moisture. … It works as an emollient that softens and hydrates skin. Because it contains several types of fatty acids — including lineoleic, oleic, palmitic and stearic acids — that improve the skin’s natural barrier, shea butter also protects skin from damage from the environment

Rice Bran Oil

is known for its ability to cleanse, soften, moisturize, soothe, nourish, and smooth the skin

Castor Oil

Castor oil and ricinoleic acid are thought to increase absorption in the skin and are sometimes used in the treatment of various skin conditions, including dermatosis, psoriasis and acne *

Cocoa Butter

is high in fatty acids, which is why it’s often touted for its ability to hydrate and nourish the skin and improve elasticity. The fat in cocoa butter forms a protective barrier over skin to hold in moisture.

Kaolin Clay

Kaolin absorbs sebum and prevents pore clogging. It’s used to draw out impurities and toxins from the pores. … Because of its antibacterial properties, kaolin clay may be useful in treating acne, too. The minerals in kaolin clay can remove oils, secretions, and contaminants from the skin*

Orangutan Friendly

DOES NOT contain Palm Oil ~ detrimental to the future of the Native Orangutan populations of Borneo, Sumatra, Thailand, and more.

Small Batch Soaps

My soaps are made using traditional lye cold process soap making.

There is NO lye remaining in the soap.  The oils and lye have undergone the process of saponification, there is no longer lye, there is no longer oil… there is SOAP!

Cold process soap making typically yields a long-lasting bar of soap, are better for the environment and healthier for the skin. One of the best things about the art of cold process soap making is having complete control over ingredients. Cold process soap has no added detergents, which strip the skin of its natural oils. I include additional ingredients to increase the skin loving benefits and use the purest ingredients available.

I ‘super-fat’ my recipes so there is a small amount of the natural oils in the soap.  This makes for a wonderfully moisturizing and emollient bar.

Never leave your hand crafted soaps in a puddle of water, they will melt and not last as long as intended.  Always keep these fine soaps well drained.
